Read more below, how it all started
Our history
Dulwich Islamic Centre & Mosque started life when the growing Muslim community in Dulwich realised that there was an urgent need to facilitate a place for them to conduct Friday prayers and have a place where they could observe daily prayers.
It started life above one of the many Indian restaurants on Lordship Lane and then moved to a flat above the East Dulwich Dry Cleaners, also on Lordship Lane.
Thereafter, with great effort and will from the community, a property was purchased in 1994 on North Cross road, where the Centre is to this day.
Now, 30 years on, it is a vibrant and important local hub for the Muslim community and with the latest planning permission that has been granted by Southwark Council, Dulwich Islamic Centre & Mosque is about to become even more relevant and spacious for the growing Muslim community in Dulwich and the surrounding areas.
